My Mom and Dad just surprised me by telling me that we're all going to NYC in a few weeks because my Dad has to go for business but we're also going to spend some time doing sightseeing. I'm from the midwest and haven't been further than Chicago so this is a big deal for me.
I THINK I found out the Rockefeller Center tree is going to be lit on December 2nd, can anyone confirm this for me?
What are some really good holiday things to do in NYC? I don't want do things I can do in my hometown, I want "NYC" things!
We'll probably have time to see a Broadway show or two and I get to pick the shows. What do you recommend? How about the Christmas Show at Radio City? I'm 14 is it more for little kids?
I'm super excited so any information you can share will be really appreciated!!NYC Questions including tree at Rockefeller Center?

Broadway shows? I believe a 14 year old would enjoy: Wicked; Billy Elliot; Bye Bye Birdie or even The 39 Steps (which is closing in January after almost 4 years). And, no the Christmas show is for everyone not just little kids. While there is Santa Claus there are so many more elements to the show that really make it fun and you'll also see what an amazing dance troop the Rockettes really are and how hard those young women work! However, do expect a lot of people there, because the lighting of the Lincoln Center Holiday Tree is canceled this year.

-Skating at Rockfeller Center, Wollman Rink or the Bryant Park Ice Rink
-Checking the display windows on 5th Avenue and the other department stores.
-Enjoying the holidays.
I hope this information is very helpful.
Good luckNYC Questions including tree at Rockefeller Center?
I would advise AGAINST going to the tree lighting. It is ridiculously crowded, people packed in waiting for hours, who start to push as the time for the lighting draws near. And the lighting takes ONE second.
Go see the tree after it's been lit on a different night.
Someone your age would like Wicked. Bye Bye Birdie got bad reviews and is a very old play.
