What are some good things to do at night in NYC besides a Broadway show?

I'm going to New York City for three days in May with a friend...we're going to be there on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I'm sure we'll see a show one of the nights we are there, but what else can we do there at night? We will be working during the day. Thanks for any suggestions!What are some good things to do at night in NYC besides a Broadway show?
Aside from hitting the local bar scene, there are night tours on buses which are cool. The empire state building observation deck opens till 1am i think and the view of the city at night is jaw dropping.
