Cool things to do in NYC?

I'm going to be in New York this weekend, and I'd rather not go through all that crazy-touristy stuff (read: empire state building, statue of liberty). I'd love any ideas about what to do in NY that might be a more off the beaten path, or just cool ideas in general.Cool things to do in NYC?
You can go shopping in Manhattan, 86th street (Brooklyn), you can go to Coney Island and take a ride on the Cyclone, or walk on the boardwalk, you can go to some museums if that's not too touristy for you, you can talk a walk in the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn, visit the NY aquarium, and many other things I can't seem to remember.Cool things to do in NYC?

little italy was cute. it is near chinatown so you could do both at the same time.

greenwich village was very interesting as well. There are tons of music clubs to visit. The Cherry Lane Theatre is the oldest running off-broadway theatre, which is located on 38 Commerce Street.

i hope this helps you :)
Walk around SoHo, Wall Street/Financial District, and Central Park. Chinatown is also kind of fun!
