Shopping in lower Manhattan. Unless, of course, you don't have rich, generous parents. If so, then go window shopping in lower Manhattan.

People watching is always fun. Unless you like looking at tourists, stay away from Times Square. But do stop by if you've never been to a big city before (just don't waste your time there).Fun things to do in nyc?

last time i was in NYC, i liked hanging around 5th Ave, looking into all the shops, having lunch in SoHo, the cheapest but yummiest place i could find, and then getting a 20 min massages on the street from the Vietnamese ladies.

ahhhh! the life of no responsibilities....
get some other people and stand on a busy street corner. Point and stare at the top of a building. If other people come along and they ask what your doing, just say something is going to happen. Soon, you will attract a big crowd. Walk away. There will just be a gigantic crowd standing there, staring.
when i first came to ny i went on a tour so i suggest that would be a good place to start and for the food me and my friends get some hot dogs or eat before we leave .
