I am going to New York City in a few weeks. I have been there before and done touristy things like the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, etc. Any suggestions for other things to do? Cool museums or relatively unknown sights? Also, any good restaurants?Non-touristy things to do in NYC?
NYC has several great museums: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, American Museum of Natural History - All excellent in their own right.
There are plenty of Broadway and Off-broadway shows (less expensive, still great). If you are looking for discounts, www.broadwaybox.com offers several coupon codes for various shows. If you're looking for a cute/funny off-broadway show, see if I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is still playing.
Another option is to attend a sporting event at Madison Square Garden or see if any good bands are playing at one of the many music venues.
Check out www.menupages.com This website allows you to search for restaurants in the city based on price, rank, cuisine, and area of town. There are also patron reviews to help you decide.
If you are of age and looking to party, www.sheckys.com is a good sight to check out. You can search by bar type and location.
