What are fun things to do in NYC for the day?

I was thinking about touring the Rockefeller Center but I'd like some other ideas.What are fun things to do in NYC for the day?
there are so many great things in nyc. If you're gonna do site seeing then yea, rockefeller center is great. But if you wanna shop then hit madison, fifth, or broadway and union square. Battery park is really pretty and you can see the city scape and the "waterfalls" thru ocotber 13th. Central Park is also great. You can also go to the empire state. What are fun things to do in NYC for the day?

Take a Long Walk in Central Park AROUND MIDNIGHT, that's where all the fun begins!

All we hear about in the UK happening in NYC is muggings, stabbings and shootings - seems to be a popular past-time over there but I wouldn't recommend it.
