I am going to New york city in February with my boyfriend and i want to get the inside scoop from locals or other people who have traveled to nyc, let me the good and bad, advise, good places to visit, museums, attractions, tours, weird stuff, odds and ends, whats worth it and whats not- good and bad experiences! let me know!Best things to do in NYC in February?
February in New York is cold

Plan to spend your visit indoors. I would not

do anything chill-making like going on the Staten Island Ferry or The Circle Line ... or even going to see The Statue of Liberty.... or the Bronx Zoo, even the Central Park Zoo or the Bronx or Brooklyn Botanical Garden ....a horse-drawn carriage around Central Park....

brrr all around !!!!

I would go to:

* The Algonquin Hotel for tea, dinner or cabaret

* The Metropolitan Museum for dinner on Friday or Saturday late in the day, they are open late, have a great gift %26amp; book shop

and beautiful exhibitions

* The Frick Collection is absolutely beautiful

* for food: Zabars, Dean and DeLuca, Chinatown (eat and buy things to take back to your hotel from China at Kam Man Foods on Canal Street)

* for art supplies: Pearl Paint on Canal Street

* go to the N.Y. Philharmonic, you can have dinner before the concert right in Avery Fisher Hall (N. Italian restaurant and another that does espresso, pastries, and sandwiches) or you could go to O'Neals for great burgers (real ones) ....

* go to The Metropolitan Opera in Lincoln Center (O'Neals for dinner?).....or Carnegie Hall for a concert (Carnegie Deli and The Stage Deli right down Seventh Avenue ..

* shopping: Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Shanghai Tang, Pierre Deux, Williams-Sonoma,

* Grand Central Station just to see it, or to shop for a snack or things to take back to your hotel // or The New York Public Library at 42nd Street, a research library if you need to look up something ) and if you are into great architecture and big spaces .... gift shop, the most fantastic periodical room with huge windows and long wooden tables, a great place to sit and read foreign magazines on a snowy day, overlooks Fifth Avenue (I think there are great sandwich shops just across the street on Fifth)

* Nirvana, the Indian restaurant on Central Park South on top of a high building overlooking all of Central Park

* Tavern on the Green right inside Central Park would be great for Sunday brunch, or Isabellas on 77th and Columbus ....

* The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine .... absolutely beautiful .... on Amesterdam and 111th Street, right across the street is a Hungarian Pastry Shop and an Indian restaurant ... and over on Broadway, one block away are restaurants: Indian Cafe on 108th and Broadway with the best pista kulfi in the whole world !!...and some Chinese restaurants.... and places to buy fruit and stuff to take back to your hotel ...

* jewelry? Tiffany's, Cartier (great white silk evening scarves for the gentlemen)

* a bar: The Algonquin, The Sherry Netherland, The Bemelmans Bar %26amp; The Cafe Carlyle (cabaret) at the Carlyle Hotel

* and don't forget: Mickey Mantle's on Park Avenue South ... overlooks Central Park from the Street level .....

New York is one great big party if you have money !!Best things to do in NYC in February?
Yeah its cold but you dont want to spend the whole time indoors?? Go up the empire state at night for fab views, yeah it will be cold but so what! I survived and I went in Feb.

The Marriott Marquais on Broadway has a revolving buffet restaurant on 83rd floor and thats nice..with a choc fountain too (heaven), The guides on the red buses are really good and u can hop off and on them - I recommend those.
