Fun things to do in NYC and/or Jackson, New Jersey?

Im going on vacation with my mom dad and 14 year old sister. We are going to Six flags great adventure, and visiting NYC for the first time. What are some (cheaper!!) things that we could do? Im from Western New York and have never been over there.



Also, are there any beaches nearby?Fun things to do in NYC and/or Jackson, New Jersey?
In NYC their is the Metropolitan Museum%26amp;%26amp; the Statute of Liberty%26amp;%26amp;Empire State Building. And theirs great shopping centers on any main street. Awesome food (especially pizza). Never been to New Jersey. But what boroughs are you going to (Queens, Brooklyn, Staten island, Manhattan)?Fun things to do in NYC and/or Jackson, New Jersey?
i'll recommend Playland is like 30 minutes from NYC is in Rye,NY is a very nice place, its an amusement park with a pool and a beach, you can also try Luna park in Brooklyn, NY its an amusement park, next to it its the famous Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs where they do the hot dog eating contest, the hot dogs are good, ant the beach is near by too, its like 5 minutes.
