List of things to bring to NYC?

I'm going to NYC for the day and I don't know what to bring with me. I always over pack, but I don't want to because I have to carry it with me the whole day. Please write a list of stuff I should take. I'm taking the train in so I don't know the train guidelines but if you do write a list of things, but don't disobey the guidelines.List of things to bring to NYC?
Why do you need to pack for a one day visit? Are you spending the night? Which train? The LIRR? Subway? NJ transit? If it's just for the day, you really don't "need" anything. If you're not from around here, maybe a map? A camera? Are you using a MetroCard to ride the subways and/or buses? Aside from the basics like sunblock, sunglasses, deodorant, hand sanitizer, tissues, aspirin, hard candy, a water bottle, etc., I can't think of much that you wouldn't normally keep in your bag.List of things to bring to NYC?
= cell phone, camera,chips,ipod.

= It depends on when you are going. If your going in the fall or winter, bring warm clothes. If your going in the spring or summer, bring light clothes.

As for things to bring with you, I know everyone has cameras in their phones but still bring disposable cameras with you. Also, bring your walking shoes because in New York City if you want to get somewhere on time, you go by foot. Bring money for souvenirs and most of all bring your enthusiasm, it's NYC. Have fun and I hope I was helpful.
If its only for a day I can imagine needing anything more than would typically go into your purse other than a change of clothes. Cash and credit cards and ID are always important out here. You can bring whatever you want on a train really, but if you are carrying a large bag or backpack it's subject to search by the NYPD without question.List of things to bring to NYC?
Bring yourself.

Bring money.

Bring a credit card if you have one.

Bring a camera if you like to take photos.

Check the weather and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain.

I usually like to bring a light sweater for air-conditioned buildings.

Other than that, you don't need anything at all!
