Fun things to do in NYC and Long Island?

Hi guys! I'm a college student from LI and I'm home for break. My family is always at work or school or dance, and none of my friends are home yet so I've been pretty bored hanging out at home all the time. What are some fun, cheap things to do either on the island or in the city? I've done most of the touristy stuff, and I've been to all the major museums, so I'd like something more off the beaten trail. Thanks!Fun things to do in NYC and Long Island?
Get a decent kickscooter and head for the slopes.

Start at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and ride your way down Columbia Heights. Then head for the Manhattan Bridge and ride the final half of the bridge into Manhattan. Now you can make your way to the Williamsburg Bridge and ride back to Brooklyn. Next you head for the Queensboro Bridge and ride the final half of that bridge back to the city.

Finally, if you're feeling up to it and have health insurance, you can go to 187th St by Wadsworth Ave and ride that insanely steep stretch of road downhill. If you survive, what a rush. Otherwise, at least it was fun to ride the scooter elsewhere. My only advice: keep your weight on the brake while going downhill and always, always watch out for cracks in the pavement going downhill.

If there's too much traffic on 187th St when you get there (actually, there will be), try again with a sled instead of a scooter next time there's a severe snowstorm in the city. Arrive before the plows do.Fun things to do in NYC and Long Island?
Hi! OMG i love Long Island, New York to the end, and have been visiting it for about 7 years!! Okay,so if you live near Queens or Towns Square, you could go to Radio City Music Hall http://www.radiocity.com/ %26lt;---- Link! Or to Madame Tussaud Wax Museum http://www.madametussauds.com/NewYork/ In New York City, you could go to The Statue Of liberty/Ellis Island. (Need to take a boat to both) Or the Empire State Building! Just in case you haven't been to them! In Town Square, There is the world's largest Toys "R" Us. In Long Island you can go to Adventure Land or Splish Splash. In Suffolk County, there is a beautiful beach, in Hampton Beach. I hope you have the best out of your break! And do awesome in college! Eat the different Street foods, and go to the Ripley's museum
Long Island is just an urbanised strip of land extending from NYC. It is built with post war housing plus the hideous architecture and ugly roads. Where it could of been used for conservation like in Canada and Britain (much more environmentally aware countries) it is just an ugly mess of more concrete (as if NY is not concrete enough). I guess its the American way of spreading outwards and using a lot of resources and space without giving a damn about the environment
