I am 14, and my family is going to Manhattan soon to have fun before school starts. I have a little 5-year-old, and my mom who can't really do anything to crazy (cliff-jumping, huge malls, etc) because she has RA, scoliosis, etc. We might also go to Boston instead, so I want to hear about that as well. We live in CT, so it's the same distance. No links please. What are some fun family things to do in NYC or Boston?
Times Square is always a popular destination... i was just in NYC like 2 weeks ago and i really enjoyed that area. Also Central Park, or those Ripley museum's or Madam Tussaid's are quite interesting. And actually, there is a tour from NYC to Boston. It's a one day trip, 4 hour drive. In Boston, there is Quincy market in Boston which was really cool. When i went to Boston, there was also the Freedom Trail which was quite interesting. Boston is a little more laid back then NYC, so if you go there, it's not as busy and chaotic. Both are really nice and interesting though! What are some fun family things to do in NYC or Boston?
If you are only in the city you should
- Go to tea; I suggest going to the Taj.
- Go shopping on Newbury Street; Many fun stores to shop in, and if you do go to the Taj it is right next store.
- Go to Paul Reveres House in the North End; Visit the historic landmark and then enjoy the North End. Great bakeries, and just a fun time!
- See the Tall Ships; This only applies if they are in.
- Go on a cruise around Boston harbour; Not sure if there are any day cruise lines, or if you have to rent them. My school rents the Odyssey every year for our school to spend the day on, and have a dance on that night.
- Eat at PF Changs; An amazing Chinese restaurant in the Theatre district.
If you have a car . . .
- Go to the beach; I suggest going to Salisbury or Glauster. It may take a while to get there but the Cape is fun too!
- Go to Polo; Polo matches usually run on Sundays at the Mipoia polo field in Hamilton Wenham.
- Go to Canopie Lake Park; A fun amusement park!
- Visit Salem; Salem MA, go to the Witch House, and House of 7 Gables!
- Just drive; Drive around and look at the wonderful New England colonials! **One of my favourite tihngs to do!
Hope this helps! And have fun! What are some fun family things to do in NYC or Boston?
I recommend the Bronx Zoo. It's free on Wednesday and Saturday mornings but worth the money to get in on other days. Very near the Bx Zoo is the New York Botanical Gardens. They are very relaxing and pretty to just wander around. If you're staying in Manhattan, Central Park has the Swedish Cottage and Central Park Zoo. Both the Bronx Zoo and the Central Park Zoo have really nice Children's Zoo's. Hope you have fun! What are some fun family things to do in NYC or Boston?
